Evidence-informed hypnotherapy in Melbourne.

Hypnotherapy for IBS, anxiety, smoking and vaping, confidence, public speaking and lasting behavioural change.

I'm Nina, a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Brunswick, and alongside my private practice I work as a Gut-Directed Hypnotherapist at the Functional Gut Disorders Clinic at The Alfred Hospital, as part of a multidisciplinary team of gastroenterologists, dietitians and psychologists.

I bring this same evidence-based approach to my private practice, tailoring sessions to each person and their goals.

My areas of focus are

IBS and gut-related symptoms

Stopping smoking and vaping

Confidence and public speaking

Anxiety and stress

IBS

Gut-directed hypnotherapy is a well-established treatment for IBS. Through my work at The Alfred Hospital, I specialise in this approach and use the same six-week protocol in my private practice.

My approach

I take time to understand what is happening for you and tailor the work to your individual needs.

Hypnosis is a state of heightened focus and awareness in which you remain awake, aware and in control. Sessions combine conversations, therapeutic techniques and hypnosis, with an emphasis on practical strategies you can use in every day life.

I hold a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Human Givens Applied Certificate in Psychotherapy, and I am a member of the Australian Association of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

What to expect

A typical hypnotherapy session lasts one hour and consists of a counselling talk and exploration of the presenting issue and a hypnotic experience. Hypnosis is NOT mind control, it’s NOT being asleep or unconscious while a hypnotherapist “changes your brain”. It’s an active process and the subjective experience of it varies from person to person. Hypnosis is a state of heightened suggestibility and perspective taking.

Will it work for me? The honest answer is “I don’t know” but most people can at least achieve a light trance state where powerful change can happen.

As with any other therapy, rapport with your therapist is important to achieve good results and I might not be the right fit for you and your needs.
